Never Trust FedEx

You might have read about the end of Kodachrome 64.

I had about 12 rolls of this beautiful film shot, and another 3-4 I needed to shoot. So, after a few days of shooting over the Holiday break, I packaged up all my rolls, and went to my local FedEx/Kinkos.

After being told I needed an international airbill to ship to Kansas, and convincing the woman at the counter that Kansas was actually a US State, I shipped my film FedEx Priority Overnight, with a guaranteed delivery time of 10:00AM on December 30th, a solid 2 hours before Dwayne’s Photo’s noon deadline for Kodachrome intake.

At 11:00am on December 30th I called FedEx because tracking showed the package still at the airport. FedEx assured me that the tracking page was lagging, and my package would be delivered as promised. At Noon I called Dwayne’s, who said nothing was delivered. At 3:00pm FedEx told me “they didn’t know what happened.”

Long story short, FedEx lost my package, and managed to deliver it on Friday, December 31st, at 3:45pm.

~570 beautiful Kodachrome images will never be developed, thanks to FedEx.
